Barcelona is coming off from two disappointing seasons with no qualification to the EuroLeague playoffs. This season, the team is on to a better start with a 6-3 record and is one of the leaders in the Spanish League. The Catalan side, paced by tough and demanding coach Pesic, wants to return to its successful run, to reach the Final Four and break through Real Madrid’s dominance in the Spanish League.
French guard Thomas Heurtel is one of the key players of the team and spoke to Eurohoops TV in Barcelona’s recent visit to Athens for the game against Panathinaikos. Heurel shared many of his thoughts for Barcelona’s goals, this year’s signings and whether he and Kevin Pangos can become the team’s “hot” duo.
The international combo guard also compared the derbies in Spain, Turkey and Greece and even answered if he would consider playing in Greece. “People in Greece are crazier, there’s more spark to the derbies between Panathinaikos and Olympiacos, same in Turkey. I think the Clasico has better atmosphere”.
Heutel also expects for a solution to be reached in regards to the Qualifiers Windows and the national teams, while he notes that France’s goal in China is to win a medal. “It’s very bad for the players, everyone wants to play for their country. Ι hope that the problem will be fixed. The goal [for China], of course, is the medal, depends which color, hopefully, gold” (smiles)
