For two months Fenerbahce/ Ulker was impressive during the Top16 and the Euroleague playoffs, the team qualified to Euroleague’s Final Four, but the end of the season was bitter and the failure can’t be denied.
The end result is a lost cup final to Anadolu Efes and the defeat in the league semifinals, despite the fact that Fenerbahce/ Ulker finished the regular season on top of the standings and had the home court advantage. The qualification to the Final Four is a huge achievement, however it’s not a title.
That’s why Zeljko Obradovic who recently extended his contract for two more seasons said to the press conference after the game: “When a team finished on top of regular season standings and ends the playoffs this way, then the coach is responsible for this. Now we have to sit down, think about everything that happened, what went wrong and why we were defeated. This series was a very hard lesson for all of us”.
