Olympiacos won easily the Greek league after its third victory (93-74) against Panathinaikos (3-0). It’s the first time the Reds win the league with a sweep and the first time the Greens lose the title after a sweep.
The hosts didn’t have a any problem to conquer in the game after the first quarter (11-12, 9′) when Mavrokefalidis faced early foul problem. Panathinaikos tried to hurt Olympiacos from the perimeter through Jankovic and Slaughter’s shots but couldn’t react after Olympiacos’ balanced game.
The Reds had in great night their captain, Vassilis Spanoulis who scored 23 points in his best game in the finals, but also Giorgos Printezis (12p, 6 rebs), Othello Hunter (10p, 7 rebs), Matt Lojeski (11p) were excellent.
Olympiacos won its first title after three years but did it with sweep (3-0) for first time in its history. Also it’s the first time that the Reds beat five times in row Panathinaikos.
