The championship title in Turkey belongs to Karsiyaka which completed with the most impressive way a basketball “fairytale” and got the easy 85-71 win on the road on the way to a 4-1 triumph over Anadolu Efes. It was the first championship title for Karsiyaka after 28 years.
After prevailing in the semifinals over Zeljko Obradovic‘s Fenerbahce/ Ulker in the semifinals (3-1), the players of coach Sarica destroyed Duda Ivkovic’s Efes, beating both Turkish Euroleague teams. Juan Palacios with 20 points on 8/8 2p. was the leader of the winners.
The game was decided in the third quarter in which Karsiyaka with a partial 26-12 score got a 67-50 lead in the 30th minute and the game was practically decided. Efes just couldn’t react.
