Unics Kazan missed the chance to play in Euroleague in the qualifying round, Lietuvos Rytas participates in Europe’s top competition and that’s why the Russian team had an extra motive to beat the Lithuanians (74-68). Former Panathinaikos forward Kostas Kaimakoglou (photo) was the top scorer for the winners with 18 points and also had 7 rebounds and four steals.
Still, Unics has a 2-1 record and after the 3rd gameday in VTB league there are five unbeaten teams. In Group A Spartak St. Petersburg (3-0) and Khimki (3-0) are on the top with Astana (3-1) and Unics following, while in Group B CSKA Moscow has a 3-0 record and two more teams, Nizhny and Zalgiris Kaunas, have two wins in two games.
