In a derby of Round 9 in the Betsafe LKL, BC Wolves defeated Zalgiris Kaunas in Vilnius with a score of 75-64, securing the top spot in the standings.
Vaidas Kariniauskas led the winning side to their eighth win of the season with 15 points and six assists, while Rasheed Sulaimon also contributed 15 points. TreShawn Thruman followed with 14 points and five boards.
Zalgiris suffered its first loss of the season (8-1), with only Naz Mitro-Long scoring 15 points and Laurynas Birutis adding 11 points.
The hosts were in control for the majority of the first half, but then Zalgiris took over. After the opening minutes of the third period, it seemed the Kaunas side was pulling away. However, Wolves fought back, regained the lead, and managed to keep it until the end, securing a significant victory in front of their fans against the reigning champions.
