It’s not exactly news that Maccabi Tel Aviv (photo) won one more domestic cup in Israel. After all, it’s the 40th time that this happens with the 2013 victim being Maccabi Haifa and the final score 76-68. Without injured captain Lior Eliyahu and with Devin Smith (13 p.) being named MVP, Maccabi survived a tough game despite Haifa having a 61-57 lead in the start of the fourth quarter. Gal Mekel scored 28 points for the losing side.
In Croatia, Cibona won the “Kresimir Cosic” cup by beating cross town rival Cedevita 77-76 in the final thanks to the winning basket of veteran Sandro Nicevic who signed recently with the team. An other veteran, Adrija Zizic with 21 points was the top scorer of the winners. The game ended with Cedevita’s Marko Tomas attacking (!) a fan of his team.
