The 16th game of Spartak St. Petersburg in Russian PBL was the last one for Jure Zdovc. One day after the home defeat by Spartak Primorie, the team announced the dismissal of the coach and his Greek assistant Stefanos Dedas. Former Russian national team member Evgeni Kisurin will act as the coach until the end of the season.

Spartak with a 8-8 record is at this point fourth in the PBL standings, as CSKA leads the standings (14-2), Khimki is second (10-4), Lokomotiv is third (9-7), Krasnye Krylia is fifth (7-7) and Unics Kazan is sixth (7-8). As for Zdovc, he seemed to be at odds with Spartak’s management, after the team let go Patrick Beverley to Houston and didn’t replaced him with fellow Slovenian Jaka Lakovic, who was the coach first choice, but with former NBAer Darius Johnson-Odom.
