Sonny Weems scored 24 points, CSKA Moscow got the road win in Krasnodar and also the VTB league title. The “army team” beat Lokomotiv Kuban and with 3-1 wins got the championship title and ended the season in a high note, despite the failure in Euroleague’s Final Four. It was the last game of Euroleague legend Theodoros Papaloukas who is retiring from the courts. As coach Ettore Messina said: “Those play offs were probably the most difficult in my career, facing opponents like Eurocup winners Lokomotiv Kuban, Eurochallenge winners Krasnye Krylia and a Top16 Euroleague team like Khimki. Also we played in the finals without Teodosic, Kaun and in the the last game without Knhryapa due to injuries. I want to congratulate everyone. The only sad thing is that we have to say goodbye to a player like Theo”.
