Lietuvos Rytas and Oostende in the final

The hosts of the Euroleague qualifying round will fight for the last spot in the top European league against the biggest suprise of the tournament. The game between Lithuanian club Lietuvos Rytas and Belgium champions BC Oostende will decide which will be the 24th team of the upcoming Euroleague.

Lietuvos Rytas did what they had to do against EWE Oldenburg (99-87) with former Olympiacos player Martynas Gecevicius exploding for 34 points on 8/10 three points shots, the all time fourth best shooting exhibition from the three points line in the history of Euroleague. Chris Kramer with 24 points did his best for the Germans.

The big upset of the night was the 82-80 win of BC Oostende over Banvit. Not only the Belgians were the underdogs, but also the Turkish side couldn’t score in order to win the game or at least send it in overtime in the last 1.15″ of the game as Drew Gordon missed a lay up and two free throws and then Sammy Mejia couldn’t make his last shot after scoring 26 points. For the winners Ryan Thompson had 19 points, but Dusan Djordjevic (14 p.) scored the five most important points of the game, giving a 4 points lead (81-77) to his team.
