One underdog and one of the marquee names of Turkish basketball will meet in the upcoming Turkish Cup final on Sunday. Karsiyaka beat Fenerbahce/ Ulker (82-73) and Anadolu Efes prevailed over Galatasaray (69-64) in a really close game.

The injury woes of Fenerbahce finally caught up with the team of Zeljko Obradovic which didn’t had problems in the front line and also in the backcourt rotation after the absence of Kenan Sipahi. Galatasaray also didn’t have Milan Macvan available, however couldn’t take advantage of a 30 points game by Carlos Arroyo, as the defense of Anadolu Efes dictated the final outcome.

It’s a unique situation for coach Vangelis Aggelou of Anadolu Efes, who led his team in the Turkish cup final after getting the qualification to the Greek cup final with Aris, before deciding to continue his career in Istanbul.  The Greek cup final between Aris and Panathinaikos will be also played on Sunday.
