It was Cup weekend in Germany and in Lithuania and the upsets were thunderous, specially in the Baltic sea, where Prienai surprised everyone by beating in the final Lietuvos Rytas after overtime and getting its second domestic top level title.

However last year when Prienai conquered for the first time the Lithuanian cup, both Zalgiris Kaunas and Rytas didn’t compete in the tournament, so this time the 92-91 win in the final can be considered the highlight of Prienai’s club history. Mindaugas Lukauskis was the MVP of the final (15 p., 4/8 3p.) for Prienai, after beating on Saturday’s semifinal Zalgiris (83-76).

In Germany, Alba Berlin beat in the final Ulm (86-80) behind 19 points and 5 assists by Cliff Hammonds, despite the 25 points by Per Gunther. In the semifinal Alba prevailed over Brose Baskets 83-67 and end their cup streak at the three-peat. Ulm beat in the semifinal Bayern Munich (90-72). In the 3rd place game, Brose Baskets got the 79-73 win over Bayern.
