Playing without injured Keith Langford, but with a great Alessandro Gentile who had 24 points on 10/16 shots, 7 rebounds and 6 assists, EA7 Milano defeated previously unbeaten Barcelona in Top16 by 28 points (91-63). It was one more clear message from the hosts of Euroleague’s final four that they will no bow to anyone without a fight.
Still this result doesn’t change anything in Group E standings. After the first game of the 13rd Top16 week, Barcelona has secured the top spot (12-1) and EA7 Milano has also locked the second place (10-3). It was the first defeat of Barca in Top16 after 24 wins in a row since January 2013, when the Catalans were beaten by Khimki (85-72). In both games Juan Carlos Navarro was absent.
