Even without Juan Carlos Navarro, Barcelona didn’t have any trouble against Arroyo-less Galatasaray. The absence of the Puerto Rican was more than important for the guests, as Barca got the easy 84-63 win and now has a 2-0 advantage in the series.
The Turkish team couldn’t replace its injured leader who may play next week in the rest of the series, while Navarro felt pain after the first five minutes in an old hamstring injury and he was protected for the rest of the night from his team. After all there was no need for him to risk anything. To score was 21-8 after the first quarter and Barcelona cruised to the win. Brad Oleson with 14 points led a balanced Barcelona offense with five double digits scorers, while Henry Domercant had 11 points and Ender Arslan 10 for Galatasaray.
The injuries of Navarro and Arroyo was also the main topic of discussion during the press conference and both coaches said that probably both of them will be available for Game 3 on Sunday. Specially coach Ataman explained: “Our medical team is doing everything they can to have Arroyo ready for Game 3. He couldn’t put his foot on the floor yesterday and now he started walking. There are three more days before Game 3; he will take the final decision and if he wants to play, we will give him the opportunity to do it”.
