The third class continental competition in Europe, Eurochallenge, concluded with Reggio Emilia getting the trophy by beating in the final Russian club Triumph Lyubertsy (79-65). It’s the first ever top level trophy in the history of Reggio Emilia which has been champions of the second Italian division twice. Italian national team member Andrea Cinciarini (7 p., 7 r.) was the MVP of the competition’s Final Four which was held in Bologna, Italy. However the top scorer of the team with 17 points in the final was former New York Knicks member James White. In the third place game, Gaziantepspor beat Szolnoki 87-75 after overtime.
In the semifinals, Triumph prevailed by a bucket over Szolnoki, while the Italians beat one of the favorites to get all the way, Turkish club Gaziantepspor, which led by Slovenian national team coach and former player, one of the best of his generation in Europe, Jure Zdvoc.
