Nightmare for Maccabi Tel Aviv and Goodes

By Eurohoops team/ info@eurohoops.net

The game ended in a half empty “Nokia Arena” as disappointed fans of Maccabi Tel Aviv didn’t expect the final whistle in the 78-58 defeat by cross town rival Hapoel Tel Aviv. That was the third straight misstep of the Euroleague champions, after losing to Hapoel Jerusalem by 30 points also for their domestic league and by 10 points to Cedevita in Euroleague.

The last two games were played at home of the champs who were coached by Pini Gherson in the last five minutes against Hapoel Tel Aviv, because coach Guy Goodes has been ejected. That’s not the end of it as captain Guy Pnini was injured in his Achilles tendon, a severe blow to the team. Larry O’Banon with 29 points and 11 rebounds “killed” Maccabi which dropped to the fourth place of the Israeli league standings with a 4-2 record.
