You could say that the 5th week of Euroleague’s regular season started with upsets, but that doesn’t do justice to Nizhny Novgorod which prevailed on the road over Unics Kazan and to Neptunas which beat Valencia at Klaipeda.

Nizhny achieved exactly the same on Monday and this time with Taylor Rochestie scoring 24 points with 4/4 threes – one of them being the most important shot of the game – got the 79-73 win over Unics which is left at 1-4. In what was a hard fought contest the guests got a small lead from the first quarter (21-16) and they kept it until the end. Now Nizhny with a 2-3 record has the advantage for the Top16 qualification, while Unics is in danger.

In Lithuania, Neptunas proved that it tranforms at home to a much stronger team and pushed Valencia with a 1-4 record to the bottom of Group D standings. The hosts got the 94-87 win by shooting more than well (19/30 2p., 11/21 3p.), the guests never led and despite their second half reaction, they couldn’t get into striking distance. Τhe best they did was cutting the lead of Nizhny to five during the last two minutes of the game. Deividas Gailius with 19 points was the top scorer of the winners.
