The first round of Euroleague’s regular season ended with Barcelona remaining unbeaten by prevailing with relative ease over Panathinaikos. Earlier Sassari getting its first ever Euroleague win over sloppy Zalgiris.

Barcelona prevailed with 78-69 over Panathinaikos. The Greens tried to fight during the whole game, trailed by five points (67-62) with three minuted to go, but they had just 2/20 three pointers. This number decided the outcome of the game. Ante Tomic with a double double (16 p., 10 r.) led the way for Barca which had three more double digits scorers. On the other side only Esteban Batista scored more than 10 points, 14 to be exact.

Sassari got its first ever Euroleague win (92-80) with Zalgiris Kaunas being the victim and Shane Lawal leading the charge with 25 points on 10/12 shots and 9 rebounds. The game was close until the last quarter which started with a 15-2 run by the hosts. Zalgiris was better than the Italians in many aspects of the game, but turned the ball over 31 times. In 22 of those occasions, Sassari got the steal and that explains everything. Ζalgiris made it a six points game (82-76) with 1,5 minutes left, but David Logan (20 p.) answered with a three and the game was over.
