The cinderella story of Euroleague’s regular season was completed. Nizhny Novgorod got the 78-74 win over Unics Kazan – the third of this season – and also the ticket to the Top16.
Playing without Taylor Rochestie, Nizhni had to get a big performance by Trey Thompkins (17 p.) and Tarense Kinsey who finished the game with 23 points and 6 rebounds, scoring almost every big point down the stretch. Despite 24 points by Keith Langford, Unics couldn’t control the game in the second half, after getting a 42-35 lead in the first 20 minutes. The score was 60-56 with seven minutes left, but with a 10-0 run Nizhny got the lead and never lost it until the end.
