Galatasaray started the Top16 by playing punished without fans but with a win over Zalgiris Kaunas 78-69 and completed 2014 with a smile. Despite the new additions, once more the duo of Carlos Arroyo (12 p., 5 as.) and Zoran Erceg (14 p.) were the leaders of the winners.
Zalgiris did the best they could on the road, had a 41-35 advantage in the first half and cut the lead of Galatasaray to five (72-67) with 23 seconds to go after a three by James Anderson (15 p.). However in the remaining time they couldn’t do anything better. The difference in free throws between the two teams – 31/33 for Galatasaray and 2/5 for Zalgiris – is the number that stands out in the stats sheet, even if the Lithuanians had a serious lack of inside game.
