Panathinaikos plays better at home this season and even one of the pleasant surprises of the league, Zalgiris Kaunas, didn’t have a real chance at OAKA. The Greens got the 77-58 win on the way to a 2-1 record.
Six players of Panathinaikos scored in double digits with Nikos Pappas being the top scorer (14 p.). Dimitris Diamantidis finished the game with 7 points and 6 assists and the key for the win was defense. After a relatively close first half, the hosts kept Zalgiris to 9 points in the third quarter (63-42) and the game was over. Zalgiris can’t keep anything from this visit to Athens, except the cheers for its assistant coach, Euroleague legend and former Panathinaikos player, Sarunas Jasikevicius.
Loukas Mavrokefalidis got injured and will stay out of action for the next two weeks.
