It was the definition of a big game, it was close from wire to wire and in the end it was decided in the last minute as Fenerbahce beat CSKA Moscow 81-75. With the guests leading by two (74-72) and 46 seconds to go, Milos Teodosic was wisthled for a foul and a technical that gave 4 free throws to the Fenerbahce. Nemanja Bjelica made three of them (77-72) and the game was over. Fenerbahce also got the points advantage in a possible tie in the final standings, as CSKA had won in Istanbul by three points.
Even before the tip off the stakes were high. Andrei Kirilenko was ready to make his debut with the team, Fenerbahce’s Bogdan Bogdanovic was back from injury – almost three weeks before the initial predictions – after losing the Turkish cup final and a win for both teams was crucial in the race to the play offs. Fenerbahce started the game with a 17-10 lead after the first period, but CSKA responded quickly and nobody could get a big lead until the end. The duo of Nemanja Bjelica (11 p., 13 r.) and Jan Vesely (14 p., 5 r.) led Fenerbahce, while Nando De Colo had 18 points before also fouling out, like also Vesely did. It was the first win of Zeljko Obradovic over his former assistant Dimitris Itoudis after three defeats.
