Panathinaikos in the biggest night of the season so far got a key 85-69 win over Real Madrid and made a decisive step towards the play offs. Nikos Pappas had 22 points on 7/7 shots and 7/8 free throws on the way to a triumph.
In theory Real was the better team, but the Greens had the lead from the start and controlled the game until the end and in the third quarter a 16 lead was build. The hosts couldn’t react after that, shooting just 36% in two pointers, one of their worst performances in the season. Jaycee Carroll with 16 points was the leading scorer of Real, as the defense of Panathinaikos managed to contain all the main options of the Spaniards.
