Alba Berlin fought until the end and things were not easy for the defending champions. However, Maccabi Tel Aviv got in the end the 73-64 win and Devin Smith was the man who made the difference.
Smith scored 28 points on 7/10 threes – tying the club record on made threes in Euroleague, which belonged to Saras Jasikevicius since 2004 – including the big shot that gave a 69-63 lead to the guests with less than four minutes to go. Despite shooting just 11/24 free throws, Maccabi had the game under control in the last minutes and Alba scored just 13 points in the last quarter. After this win Maccabi got the third place in the final standings and Panathinaikos finished fourth, making those two teams the last to qualify to the play offs from group E.
