In the decisive Game 5 of the Italian playoffs first round the hosts got the ticket to the semifinals, while Metta World Peace’s season with Cantu ended with him getting ejected.
Venezia prevailed over Cantu (88-73) and with three minutes left, the American forward got into a quarrel with the referees and the opponents. He got ejected after contributing 10 points, his teammate Awudu Abass was punished with a techical foul and the same happened with Pietro Aradori of Venezia. Phil Goss led the winners with 24 points.
Reggio Emilia destroyed Brindisi by 24 points (86-62) in a team effort led by Dario Lavrinovic (15 p.). Venezia and Reggio Emilia will face each other in the semifinals. EA7 Milano vs Sassari is the other semifinal couple.
