Olimpia Milano prevailed once again against Cantu in the Italian SuperCup, this time around with 102-62 on the scoreboard. Milano improved to 3-0 at the top of Group A while Cantu still awaits for the first win (0-3).
Kevin Punter led the way with 17 points on 5-7 shooting while Zach LeDay added 16 and Kaleb Tarczewski 14 points. They also grabbed seven boards each for the Milano squad which was on fire from deep with 14-23.
For Cantu, Jazz Johnson scored 16 in addition to Maarty Leunen’s ten points. Sha’markus Kennedy logged eight points and nine rebounds.
Milano didn’t waste any time, grabbing a 14-3 lead early on and going on the halftime break with a 54-31 advantage which kept increasing in the second half to as much as 42 points (88-46).
Both squads are scheduled to play their next games on September 4th, with Milano clashing against Brescia and Cantu against Varese.
Meanwhile, Brescia got past Varese in a close finish 89-88 thanks to Christian Burns’ game-winning three-pointer.
Burns finished the game with 13 points while Brian Sacchetti scored 15 and Drew Crawford 16 points. For Varese, Luis Scola logged 18 in addition to Arturs Strautnis’ 17 points.
Fortitudo Bologna got a 96-77 win as Pietro Aradori banked 24 points with help from Todd Withers with 18. For Cremona, Jarvis Williams scored 20 and Andrea Donda 13 points.
In the last game of the night, Virtus Bologna managed to survive an overtime thriller against Reggio Emilia and grab a 79-75 win.
Julian Gamble scored 18 for the victors in addition to Kyle Weems’ 12 while on the other side, Tomas Kyzlink scored 24 and Leonardo Candi 17 points.
