The 48th general assembly of the Italian Basketball Federation confirmed Giovanni Petrucci as FIP president for the four-year period 2021-24. He received 90% of the available votes in his re-election.
“I am honored and proud to have been re-elected,” he said, “It is the most difficult moment for the country and we must intervene with reforms and revolutions in the interest of basketball.”
The longtime president of the Italian Basketball Federation was elected for the first time in 1992. He was also the president of the Italian National Olympic Committee between 1999 and 2013.
