Injury-plagued Olimpia Milano survived a close contest against Reggio Emilia on the road 67-63 to win its third straight in the Italian LegaBasket in Round 28.
Troy Daniels scored 14 points to help Milano escape with the win and Ben Bentil added 9 points and three rebounds. Milano got ahead with a 39-29 lead at halftime, yet the hosts bounced back in the third quarter to turn it into a one-possession game. With 12 seconds to play, Arturs Strautins hit a three-pointer to trim the deficit to 3 points (66-63), though a foul on Jerian Grant and a successful free throw determined the final score.
Mikael Hopkins paced Reggio Emilia with 16 points and 8 rebounds, while Strautins picked up 15 points and 7 rebounds.
Milano improved to a 22-5 record in the LegaBasket standings ahead of Game 3 of the EuroLeague playoffs series against Efes in Istanbul. Reggio Emilia dropped its second straight game to fall to a 13-15 record, though remains playoffs bound in the 8th seed.
