After a great victory against Barcelona in Euroleague, Virtus Bologna suffered an unexpected defeat in Italy against Tortona in round 14. Tortona surprised the black and white team 89-81.
This is just the third loss for Virtus Bologna, but now Armani Milano is alone at the top of the standings. Another testimony is that teams can’t have an off night after Euroleague because the opponent will take advantage.
The defense was the main problem for the Bologna side. Tortona scored 29 points just in the first quarter alone. At halftime, they already had a 15 advantage (48-33). Virtus did not manage to cut the lead in a meaningful way.
Marco Belinelli had 24 points in a losing effort, Iffe Lundberg followed with 17, and Alessandro Pajola Pajola scored 10. For the winning side, J.P. Macura had 22 points.
