In the first Italian Cup quarterfinal in Torino, the 8th seed Germani Brescia produced an incredible upset against EA7 Emporio Armani Milano, beating the EuroLeague side 75-72.
After closing the second half up by 16 points (45-29), Alessandro Magro’s team advanced to the Italian Cup semifinal, especially thanks to CJ Massinburg, who ended with 16 points.
Amedeo Della Valle went close to a double-double with 10 points and 8 assists, while the former Panathinaikos player Kenny Gabriel had 13 points and 4 rebounds.
Billy Baron tried his best until the end, banking in a dagger with 00:05 left, but he wasn’t enough with 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists.
The first Milano lead came at the beginning of the fourth quarter (58-56), but from then on, the red-and-white Italian champions couldn’t manage to survive and book their semifinal ticket.
Brescia will now face Pesaro, who beat Varese 84-80 in the second quarterfinal of the day thanks to an amazing night by Vasilis Charalampopoulos.
The former Olympiacos player had 20 points, leading his team next to the 40-year-old Carlos Delfino, who had 12 points and 6 rebounds.
On the losing end, Tariq Owens had a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds, while Colbey Ross added 17 points with 7 assists but also 8 turnovers.
