Two big surprises in Legabasket, as both Virtus Bologna and EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, lost in Round 24

All went down to the final seconds in Trieste against Virtus Segafredo Bologna’s game, and in the end, the hosts took down big favorites 78-80.

Gabriel Lundberg missed the shot for the win with six seconds to go, and Frank Bartley scored from the free throw line for the victory of Trieste.

Emanuel Terry had a massive game for the hosts, recording a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Frank Bartley and Skylar Spencer added 14 points each.

Toko Shengelia had a double-double for Virtus with 18 points and ten rebounds, while Nico Mannion added 17 points. Gabi Lundberg and Kyle Weems added 10 points each.

Napier’s 23 not enough vs. Venice

A huge third-quarter performance from Umana Reyer Venice in a surprising 76-73 win in Milan over Olimpia. They outscored the hosts 27-12 and paved the way for the win.

Maedeo Tessitori and Derek Willis had 16 points each for the winning side, while Jazson Granger added 12.

Shabazz Napier led defending champions with 23 points, Shavon Shields added 11, and Kevin Pangos 10.

It was a bittersweet night with Milan honoring legendary coach Dan Peterson and Ettore Messina saying in the press conference: “We would have liked to honor Dan Peterson better than this, we just have to lock ourselves in the gym and work”.
