Georgia has been living one of the best years in the nation’s history, sporting-wise. After Sandro Mamukelashvili getting playing time in the NBA with the San Antonio Spurs and both Tornike Shengelia and Giorgi Shermadini pushing the national team to the World Cup, another accolade has been reached.
Drawing 1-1 against Udinese in the last Serie A match, Napoli won the first Scudetto in Italian football after 33 years. One of the best players of the Azzurri was Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who contributed with 12 goals and 12 assists to win the championship. Coming to support his fellow countryman, Tornike Shengelia decided to spend the night in Udine’s Dacia Arena.
Tornike Shengelia will represent Georgia in the country’s first-ever FIBA World Cup in 2023, playing Group F in Okinawa with Luka Doncic’s Slovenia, Walter Tavares’ Cape Verde, and Venezuela.
