Olimpia Milano notched three big victories, defeating Anadolu Efes and Crvena Zvezda in the EuroLeague, and Reyer Venice in Legabasket. However, Ettore Messina’s team couldn’t extend the winning streak any further.
The defending Italian champions hosted Pistoia at the Mediolanum Forum and lost 81-86, despite Shavon Shields scoring 26 points.
After posting career-highs with 32 points and a PIR of 38 against Crvena Zvezda just a few days ago, Maodo Lo added 12 points in another surprising Milano defeat.
Ismael Kamagate also scored 12 points, while the only other player to reach double-digits was Stefano Tonut with 10 points. Nikola Mirotic was out.
The defeat of the defending champions was underlined by incredible performances from two Pistoia guards, with Payton Willis scoring 31 and Charlie Moore 28 points in a huge win.
Olimpia is just 5-4 after nine rounds of Legabasket, while Pistoia recorded its fourth victory of the season (4-5).
Brindisi stuns Virtus
Both Italian EuroLeague teams suffered defeats in Round 9 of Legabasket, as Happy Casa Brindisi took down Virtus Segafredo Bologna at home, winning 83-75 for their first domestic victory after eight straight losses.
Cameroonian Jordan Bayehe led the winning side with a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Jeremy Senglin added 22 points with seven rebounds. Virtus couldn’t cope with the duo from Dragan Sakota’s side.
Tornike Shengelia scored 14 points and was just a rebound shy of a double-double in his team’s second domestic loss of the season, while Iffe Lundberg followed him with 14 points. Awudu Abass, Marco Belinelli, and Daniel Hackett added 11 points each.
