For the first time since he was diagnosed with testicular neoplasm and after undergoing chemotherapy for the last month, Virtus Bologna forward Achille Polonarasp returned to action in a 99 – 70 Italian League win of his team over Tortona.
Polonara spent eight minutes on the floor and scored five points. Toko Shengelia led Virtus overall with 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists while Jordan Mickey had 14 points plus five rebounds.
Tommaso Baldasso posted 18 points for Tortona. The game also marked the return (and a very warm welcome) of forward Kyle Weems at Segafredo Arena as an opponent after spending the previous four years with Virtus. He had eight points.
While Virtus is prevailing in Italy, powerhouse Olimpia Milano is off to a rough start, now falling to 5-5 thanks to a loss to Dinamo Sassari.
