Joining Baskonia in the summer after leaving Virtus Bologna, Nico Mannion is now back in Italy midway through the 2023-24 season, joining Pallacanestro Varese after not being able to leave his mark in the Basque Country. He signed until 2025 with Luis Scola’s team.
Both under Joan Penarroya and Dusko Ivanovic, the former Golden State Warriors guard averaged only 6.0 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in the EuroLeague, struggling even more in the ACB, where he had 2.0 points (15.8% from two-point range and 12.0% from beyond the arc) and 2.0 assists.
The 22-year-old Italian playmaker will try to help the red-and-white side bounce back both in the Italian league, where they are battling in the relegation zone, and the FIBA Europe Cup, being at the bottom of Group N, alongside NINERS Chemnitz, CSM CSU Oradea, and ZZ Leiden with a 0-2 record.
