After his adventure with Victoria Libertas Pesaro, it seemed like Carlos Delfino’s career arrived to a definite ending after 24 years on the highest stages in the International basketball landscape. Instead, he officially moved to Benedetto XIV Cento in the Italian second division.
Earlier in the day, Eurohoops’ Cesare Milanti reported about the 41-year-old Argentinian continuing to play despite his age. Carlos Delfino last played in August against the Bahamas, scoring 15 points but losing in the 2023 FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament.
Averaging 12.8 points per game in that four-game stretch with the national team, the 2004 Olympic gold medalist and former NBA player is in shape to extend his career even more. Among others, he played for Fortitudo Bologna and Baskonia in Europe, while spending time with the Detroit Pistons, the Toronto Raptors, the Milwaukee Bucks, and the Houston Rockets in the NBA.
At 41 years of age, Carlos Delfino is expected to continue playing, helping out Benedetto XIV Cento in the Italian second division, I was told.
