Olimpia Milano superstar Nikola Mirotic played his first game since late November and scored 16 points as his team defeated Dinamo Sassari 80 – 65 to register its fourth straight Italian League win.
Mirotic, who was sidelined with Achilles tendinopathy, spent 15 minutes on the floor and finished with 1-1 2-pointers, 2-3 triples and 8 out of 8 free throws. Shabazz Napier led Milano overall with 17 points plus four assists.
Breein Tyree dropped 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Sassari.
Milano, with Mirotic now on board, will head to the double-game EuroLeague week looking to extend its streak after a big away victory at Barcelona. The Italian side will be facing Panathinaikos Athens on the road (31/1) and then go to Istanbul to play against Anadolu Efes (2/2).
In Bologna, Isaia Cordinier scored 19 points as Virtus downed Napoli 101 – 89. He and his teammates are having a challenging week ahead with games at Barcelona (30/1) and vs. Partizan Belgrade at home (2/2).
