Repelling a late comeback bid, Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari defeated Virtus Segafredo Bologna on Sunday.

The team coached by Nenad Markovic earned a win, 93-88, in PalaSerradimigni.

Metro State product Brandon Jefferson tucked in 7/10 from beyond the arc, leading the hosts in Round 21 of Italy’s LBA UnipolSai Regular Season. A game-high 29 points set a new individual best across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign. He also registered six assists. Breein Tyree and Alfonzo McKinnie added 17 and 14 points, respectively.

Dropping 21 points, experienced Marco Belinelli was not enough for the team guided by Luca Banchi. Achille Polonara, Daniel Hackett, and Gabriel Iffe Lundberg had 11 points apiece. Ognjen Dobric was ruled out along with Devontae Cacok (knee) and Tornike Shengelia (ankle).

Olimpia Milano Dominates Varese

After a surprising loss in Round 27 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague to LDLC ASVEL, Olimpia Milano bounced back in the domestic championship, defeating Varese at home with a score of 94-63.

Ettore Messina’s team dominated from the beginning, with Giampaolo Ricci standing out and leading the Italian champions to victory with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Niccolo Melli and Shavon Shields followed with 14 points each, while Maodo Lo also reached double figures with 10 points. Devon Hall and Johannes Voigtman added nine points each, with the German center grabbing eight rebounds.

On the other side, former Virtus Bologna and Baskonia guard Nico Mannion fought hard for Varese at the Mediolanum Forum, scoring 19 points with seven rebounds and five assists. However, the Italian national team player didn’t receive enough support, with recently signed Hugo Besson and Gabe Brown contributing eight points each.
