Heading to Casale Monferrato for Game 3 of the LBA Quarter-Finals, Virtus Bologna had a huge occasion: closing the series with a sweep after two first-convincing encounters at home.
Instead, pushed by the pride of his people, Derthona managed to trip the black-and-white team up, winning 91-81 to reduce the gap to 2-1. Tommaso Baldasso, who played the last three LBA Finals with Olimpia Milano against these colors, ended with 17 points over 5/9 from three.
Daniel Hackett and Isaia Cordinier tried their best by scoring 14 points each. Toko Shengelia returned to action after missing the first two games of the series with a feverish attack but only had 6 points for his side. In Game 2, Derthona lost Iffe Lundberg to injury.
Earlier in the day, Reggio Emilia won Game 3 of their Quarter-Finals series against Reyer Venezia 78-66. Jamar Smith, who was crucial in Game 1’s victory as well, scored 18 points. For Neven Spahija’s side, Rayjon Tucker had a 15-point losing effort.
