The answer to one of the most iconic plays in the history of Italian basketball was given in the recent visit of Dominique Wilkins to Italy.

Wilkins played for Fortitudo Bologna in the 1997-98 season and during the last and decisive Game 5 of the finals against cross-town rivals Virtus Bologna, he fouled Sasa Danilovic on the last play of regulation, while the Serb sharpshooter made a three and one, sending the game to overtime.

Virtus ultimately won the game in extra time, even though Fortitudo entered the closing minutes leading by 11 and the call was highly debated for a long time.

Finally, Wilkins himself admitted that it was a foul while speaking with Danilovic and taking a stroll down memory lane as you can see in the video.
