Italian second division club Virtus Roma has extended an offer to Andrea Bargnani, as reported by Sportando.
In order to convince Bargnani to agree, the offer of Viruts Roma includes various forms of bonuses depending on next season’s revenues, per the report. Roma wants to be competitive enough to get promoted in the first division where it had been playing from 1980 to 2015, the year it was relegated following some major financial issues.
Last summer the Italian forward/center signed a contract with Baskonia and returned to Europe for the first time since 2006, following a decade of playing in the NBA. While he began the 2016/2017 EuroLeague with a 26-point performance in a win over Anadolu Efes, the remainder of the season found him struggling with injuries and he didn’t manage to preserve a sufficient amount of consistency in his game. He averaged 8.8 points per game in 15 EuroLeague games.
Bargnani played his last game with Baskonia on February. It was a 99 – 88 road win over Zaragoza for the Spanish League and he finished with 18 points.
