Olimpia Milano recovered in style after the Friday’s defeat to Olympiacos by beating Flexx Pistoia 79 – 63 on the road and climbing to the top of the Italian League standings with an 11-3 record.
This was the fourth win in a row for the “Red Shoes” in Lega A and it arrived mainly through the defensive. Coach Simone Pianigiani’s players allowed merely 31 points in the second half while dropping 44.
Dairis Bertans was “hot” in his return to action with 16 points (4/7 threes) in 21 minutes. Drew Goudelock added 11, Jordan Theodore 8 plus 4 rebounds and 5 assists and Vladimir Micov 10.
In his second match with Milano, Mindaugas Kuzminskas scored 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds yet struggled with his shooting, finishing with 2/10 two-pointers and 1/6 from beyond the arc.
Ronald Moore and Tyrus McGee led Pistoia with 17 and 16 points respectively.
