Drew Goudelock had what might be the top defensive play of his career to help Olimpia Milano beat Dolomiti Energia Trento 91 – 90 in Game 5 of the Italian Lega A Finals and take a 3-2 lead in the series.
In the final play of the match, Trento’s Dominique Sutton try to score the layup and hand victory to his team but Goudelock came from behind to deliver the block on his opponent and win the match for the “Red Shoes”.
Curtis Jerrells had previously given the lead to Milano with a pair of free throws following an incredible 3-pointer by Shavon Shields for the 89 – 90.
Shields had a spectacular game with 27 points, following his 31-point performance in the Game 4 win but was called with his fifth foul on Jerrells in the play that sent the latter to the line for the game’s key free throws.
The Lithuanian duo of Arturas Gudaitis (16 points, six rebounds) and Mindaugas Kuzminskas (16 points) paced Milano. Goudelock added 14 points, apart from his game-winning defense.
