Fiat Turin announced that the club reached a mutual agreement with head coach Larry Brown to terminate his contract. Assistant Paolo Galbiati takes over as head coach.
The Italian club and the Hall of Fame coach took the decision to part ways after “carefully analyzing the situation of the team” and “to the interest of both parties,” per the announcement by Turin.
Turin got eliminated in the EuroCup regular season after finishing with a 0 – 10 record, being the only winless team in the competition. In the Italian Serie A League, the team is 12th in the standings with 4 – 8. On Wednesday (26/12), Turin lost to a plagued by financial problems Sidigas Avellino 96 – 79 at home.
Following Turin’s last EuroCup game, a defeat to Unicaja Malaga, Brown said that “I came here to teach but I’m the one who’s learning.”
Brown took two trips to the USA during his stint with Turin to resolve some health issues. He missed almost a whole month back in October due to a surgery he underwent in the States.
