The Slovenian Basketball Federation, KZS, announced on Friday that Jordan Morgan received citizenship of the country. Getting the passport earns the Michigan alumni the opportunity to compete with the Slovenian national team in future FIBA competitions as the naturalized member of the squad.

“I spent part of my basketball career in Slovenia,” remembered the Pinar Karsiyaka player referring to his time with Olimpja, “I am extremely happy and proud that I have received Slovenian citizenship and being able to play for the national team.”

Up next for the team coached by Rado Trifunovic are the 2021 EuroBasket Qualifiers and this summer the Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

“I wanted to expand my career into the highest level of international basketball and compete with Slovenia in big competitions,” added Morgan, “Slovenia is the current European champion. I look forward to reintroducing myself to the fantastic fans and proudly wear the jersey of the national team.”

Austria, Hungary and Ukraine are Slovenia’s foes in the EuroBasket Qualifiers. As for the Olympic Qualifiers, Poland and Angola are set as initial opponents at Lithuania. The other group consists of host Lithuania, South Korea and Venezuela. One out of the six teams will eventually make the trip to Tokyo.
