CSKA Moscow coach Dimitris Itoudis has been in talks to potentially take over the Slovenian national team. According to Slovenian Federation president Matej Erjavec, the presence of Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic is the most attractive factor for Itoudis to possibly accept the job.
“We are European champions. Defending that is a great coaching challenge. Also, the Olympics. Probably the biggest challenge is working with Doncic. First of all, building a team around him and making sure that others are better with him,” said to Siol.net
“I believe we will find the resources for him. I know that he’s one of the highest-paid coaches in Europe,” Erjavec also mentioned.
Slovenia was to participate in the – currently postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic – Olympic Qualifiers Tournament of Kaunas, Lithuania.
