While it looked like Oded Kattash would be fired from his position as head coach of the Israeli national team following his decision to sue the Israeli Basketball Federation, the situation took a turn towards the reconciliation between the two sides thanks to Maccabi Tel Aviv president Simon Mizrahi.
The Israeli Federation said that Kattash withdrew the lawsuit he had filed against them and that Mizrahi, as the acting chairman of the Federation, “helped bridge the gap in favor of the Israeli team.”
Per Walla, Kattash’s lawyer contacted Simon Mizrahi after her client was summoned to a hearing by the Federation. Mizrahi mediated between the Federation and Kattash and was the one that helped them bury the hatchet and ultimately reach a compromise.
Kattash is staying at the helm of his country’s national team with the Federation wishing him “success in the EuroBasket Qualifiers and beyond.”
The Israeli Federation was planning to fire Kattash after they were informed that he won’t withdraw his lawsuit against them. Kattash was accusing the Federation of furloughing him without pay when the coronavirus outbreak began and for a breach of contract terms.
