Vassilis Spanoulis hinted that he could make his return with the Greek NT in the upcoming Pre-Olympic Qualifying tournament following Olympiacos‘ Monday friendly game against Kolossos Rhodes.
“We will see”, Spanoulis replied briefly to the question about his participation after the game. A 2005 EuroBasket gold medalist, Spanoulis last appeared with the NT at the 2015 EuroBasket, playing his last game against Latvia.
Apart from Spanoulis’ possible return to the Greek NT, Olympiacos joined the fight against COVID-19 in Greece with a series of friendly games at home named “Monday’s Game Night”. Each Monday, the Reds will host a different team in order to raise awareness and funds for the fight against the pandemic, starting off with today’s game against Kolossos.
The Olympiacos administration has started its donations with 10,000 gloves to the Rhodes General Hospital and a portable heavy-duty respirator to Attikon University Hospital. Olympiacos‘ General Director also handed a check to the Médecins du Monde, in support of the elderly people in the region of Attica.
The initiative will continue in the coming weeks, with an aim to provide the State with necessary equipment, while at the same time provide live action to its fans besides its EuroLeague duties.
The first game of the friendly series ended with an easy victory of the Reds over Kolossos (95-73), paced behind a 20-point performance by Giorgos Printezis.
