Greek national team General Manager Nikos Zisis and Director of National Teams Dimos Dikoudis traveled to Milwaukee to meet with Bucks‘ Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo, in the wake of a packed summer schedule.
The Greek NT recently came to an agreement with head coach Dimitris Itoudis, and the first aim of the Federation is to initiate contacts with Greek internationals to discuss the philosophy, goals, and schedule of the national team.
The meeting took place in Bucks‘ facilities in Milwaukee, with the ‘intervention’ of coach Itoudis via call, and as the Federation notes in their statement, “all parts agreed on the need for constant contact, emphasizing the usefulness of the live inaugural meeting that took place in the US, with the goal of perfect coordination of programs and the desire to be together in the big sporting dates to come”.
The Greek NT faces Great Britain on June 30 at home and is also scheduled to play against Belarus on the road on July 3, for the second round of the 2023 FIBA World Cup qualifiers, while they will compete in Group C of the 2022 EuroBasket, that tips off September 1.
