Nearly five years after Slovenia won its first-ever EuroBasket title, the “2017” documentary premiered in Ljubljana this Friday with captain Goran Dragic and Dallas Mavericks sensation Luka Doncic in attendance.
The documentary, which premiered in front of a 5,000-people crowd Friday, deals with Slovenia’s journey up to winning the title at the Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul on September 17, 2017.
Besides captain and MVP of the tournament Dragic and Doncic, fellow Slovenian NT members Vlatko Cancar, Gasper Vidmar, Ziga Dimec, Matic Rebec, Aleksej Nikolic and Sasa Zagorac attended the premiere. Klemen Prepelic and Anthony Randolph remained in Spain while Edo Muric and Jaka Blazic were also missing from the big event in Ljubljana.
The 113-minute film came to life in collaboration with the production company ‘December’ and the Slovenian Basketball Federation, and with the support of the Slovenian Film Center. Next week, it will premiere in movie theaters across the nation.
With a busy summer ahead for national teams, Dragic is expected to make his return to the Slovenian selection for the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers, while Doncic will check in with the NT for the upcoming 2022 EuroBasket in September.
